I grew up near Santa Cruz, California, and have also lived in Arizona, Oregon, and
Washington, D.C. Both my Ph.D. dissertation and book analyze race, gender, and landscape
in memoirs by diverse writers from the American West. I have been teaching full time
at Foothill College since 2005, where I specialize in teaching composition, critical
thinking and reading, American literature, Native American literature, California
Literature, social annotation, and reflective learning.
