Kurt Hueg, Associate Vice President of Instruction, is an experienced community college
leader with a diverse background and a passion for innovation, quality teaching, student
equity and success and the promotion and advocacy of community colleges. During a
time of transition and internal challenges, Hueg served as Interim Vice President
of Instruction from October 2021 to August 2023, and prior to that, served as Dean
of the Business and Social Sciences Division from January 2013 to August of 2020,
when he began serving as Associate Vice President.
Recent accomplishments include providing vision to the post pandemic return to campus;
supervising the college schedule and related budget to maximize enrollment growth;
supporting new dual enrollment partnerships with local high school districts; and
supporting curriculum initiatives such as noncredit and the implementation of common
course numbering. As Dean of Business and Social Sciences, Hueg guided new degrees
and growth in the accounting, child development and business programs, and supported
the implementation of 11 associate degrees for transfer. As an adjunct business instructor
Hueg taught introduction to business and principles of marketing classes. As a leader
in the development of high-quality online learning programs, Hueg has supported the
growth of online quality initiatives and the development of online associate degrees
and associate degrees for transfer.
Prior to becoming a Dean, Hueg was a successful marketing and communications professional
who served as an Associate Vice President of External Relations and Director of Marketing
and Communications for Foothill College. Having worked in many facets of community
college leadership, Hueg is focused on improving student equity in all learning modalities
and finding new ways to create classroom engagement and support for equitable student
success.
Active in professional, community and civic organizations, Hueg is a current board
member of the Los Altos Rotary and is a past board member of the Association of Community
College Administrators (ACCCA), the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce, and a past president
of the California Community College Public Relations Organization (CCPRO).
A Redwood City resident, Kurt is married to Helen Hueg, and they have one daughter,
Siri, who attends College of San Mateo.
