Week of Welcome! (WOW!) Booths

Monday – Thursday, April 8 – 11
Time: 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Location: Foothill College Dining Room, Admissions & Records and Dining Hall

The WOW booths feature Asian Pacific Islander-style complimentary snacks, campus maps and other campus resource information.

College Hour: Taiko Drumming

Wednesday, April 10
Time:
Noon - 1 p.m.
Location: Library Quad

 Taiko is the ancient art of Japanese drumming used to notify villages in emergency and battle. Heiwa ("peace" in Japanese) Taiko is based at Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church in Union City, California. This group loves to  spread the beauty of their art. Complimentary refreshments will be provided. Part of Week of Welcome (WOW!).

Taste of Indonesia

Monday, April 15
Time: Noon - 1 p.m.
Location: Campus Center Dining Hall (Room 2201)

This event celebrates Indonesian culture, which includes dozens of distinct and unique languages, dances, music, architecture, food and religions. Complimentary food & refreshments served. Sponsored by Indonesian club.

Time:  Noon – 1 p.m.
Location: Library Quad

Meet a panel of Asian Pacific Islander professionals and find out about their educational and career journey.

College Hour: Luau

Wednesday, April 24
Time: 
12 - 1 p.m.
Location: Library Quad

 A luau is a traditional Polynesian feast and celebration which illustrates the uniqueness of each island and culture in the South Pacific. Complimentary food & refreshments will be provided.

 

Lecture Series: Ruby Walia, Founder and President of Touch A Soul

10 - 11:15 a.m.
Location: Toyon  (Room 2020)

Stress can cause people to experience emotional and even physical pain, and stress can multiply if not managed properly. As a practitioner of mind and body wellness, Ruby emphasizes the importance of finding healthy ways to cope with stressful situations and using stress as a tool to enhance emotional wellness. Complimentary food & refreshments will be provided.
