Foothill College Launches Nanny and Family Studies Program

Foothill College and The Institute for Families and Nannies (TIFFAN) have partnered on three unique courses for childcare providers recently approved by the California Department of Education. These courses can be applied toward an Associate in Science Degree in Child Development or an Associate in Science Degree for Transfer to prepare students to continue their studies at a California State University (CSU).

“We’re excited to raise the quality of care provided by nannies in private homes,” said Nicole Kerbey, Chair of the Foothill College Department of Child Development and Education. “We believe this education will allow professional nannies to advocate for themselves by achieving formal education that hasn’t been previously offered.”

Community members are invited to attend a kick-off event on Aug. 28 in San Francisco or Sept. 12 in Burlingame. Staff will be onsite to assist with registration.  Fall quarter classes begin Sept. 20.

Foothill College has a national reputation for academic excellence and innovation, and talented faculty and staff who care deeply about student success. The Institute for Families and Nannies (TIFFAN) is a 501C.3 nonprofit organization providing education, training, and mentorship for nannies to ensure quality childcare.
