I’m heading to the BIPOC Center soon to enjoy the food and music that will accompany an enlightening conversation on the cultural significance of Día de los Muertos with Laurie Scolari, Jerry Robredo, and Hilda Fernandez. Altars to honor our loved ones may be built.
TWO (2) Election Decompression Resources.
A news story I just read described recent campaign rhetoric as “unbridled.” Honestly, that seems too tame a word for the fear-filled, wildly insulting and, often, objectively racist discourse punctuating the week of final voting. If we are feeling it, our students are also–perhaps more deeply. Please share with your students the following resource:
Breathe & Reflect: Post-Election Decompression Day
Date & Time: November 6, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Location: Wellness Center
- Quiet Zone: Comfortable seating, blankets, and pillows for silent relaxation or quiet reflection.
- Expressive Zone: Space for art therapy, where participants can express themselves through drawing or journaling.
- Counseling Support: Counselors are available for private sessions. Message Chairs, nature sounds
- Refreshments: Coffee, hot chocolate, tea, water, snacks, and baked good will be available throughout the day.
