President's 12345 Message from Kristina Whalen

April 11, 2025

Dear Foothill Community,

As I am sure you are aware, the federal government has been revoking the F-1 visa status of many students across the nation, including three Foothill College students and six De Anza College students.

Our International Student Programs (ISP) team are doing everything in their power to support our international students. This includes constant communication with all international students and actively checking student's records and notifying students if their records have been terminated. The ISP team has provided direction on how students can maintain their F-1 status and on which documents they must carry to confirm their identity and legal status.

Please support ISP's efforts by making sure your students are aware of the resources ISP and our college provides; ISP has drop-in hours so concerned students can quickly get their questions answered and Foothill College's Mental Health and Wellness Resources are available to provide counseling support.

Finally, the District is actively engaged with this issue and Chancellor Lambert is in contact with the California Attorney General's office. Our district is also now part of an amicus brief with the President's Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration challenging the visa revocations and detentions.

We are doing everything in our power to support our students and colleagues in these truly unprecedented times, but we will not be swayed from our Mission and our values, and will operate, as always, with heart-forward care for all.

Thank you for all you do for our students.

Yours in service,
Kristina
