The Story
Ring Round the Moon is a romantic present-day farce about well-to-do
twin brothers-Frederic, who is shy and sensitive, and Hugo, who is heartless,
confident and charming. Frederic is in love with a saucy, spoiled girl (Diana)
who is in love with Hugo. To save Frederic from an unhappy marriage, Hugo tries
to distract him by bringing to a ball a beautiful, lower class club dancer (Isabelle)
who is groomed to masquerade as a high class mysterious personage, and becomes the
triumph of the occasion. Isabelle however finds herself emotionally entangled in
the evening's festivities, as she not only breaks up all the cynical romances that
have been going on before she arrived, but loses her own heart as well. As the
night ensues, the bevy of colorful characters descend into plots and playful
deception, an all-out girl fight, tango-disguised secret meetings, and a mélange
of romantic partnering.
