Ensuring Critical Thinking with AI
While many people argue that using generative AI boosts their productivity, recent studies have shown that reliance on AI tools for knowledge-related tasks can impede critical thinking. As more students and educators integrate AI into teaching and learning, ethical AI use will require maintaining the critical thinking abilities that make us human. This workshop will explore some of the cognitive impacts of generative AI use while offering some practical strategies for ensuring critical thinking when adopting these emerging technologies.
Presenter Francesca Caparas is currently English Faculty at De Anza College, is a Fulbright US Scholar Alumni Ambassador, AI Faculty Innovator in Residence through the CA Learning Lab and was the 2022 Fulbright Scholar to the Philippines. Additionally she is an instructor in Asian American Studies and the IMPACT AAPI Learning Community.
