What is a Learning Community?

A learning community is a a group of students, or cohort, who start and finish a program together with support from dedicated faculty, counselors and staff.

First Year Experience (FYE)

Foothill's FYE program supports first-time, first-generation college students through a supportive community of students, faculty, staff, and administrators—in and outside the classroom, increasing chances of success and completing academic goals.

Honors Transfer Program

Experience specialized courses, special focus seminars, exposure to exciting cultural opportunities, and transfer scholarship opportunities. You are in good hands with the Honors Institute. Our very own counselors, faculty and staff will work with you every step of the way.

Puente Project

Puente, the Spanish word for Bridge, is a national-award winning student leadership program that provides a structured pathway for transfer to the UCs and CSUs while engaging participants in community service.

MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Achievement) supports a diverse population of transfer-ready students to advance their STEM educational journeys 4-year university programs.

Umoja, a Kiswahili word meaning unity, is a year-long learning community and critical resource at Foothill College dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences of African American and other students.
